I sit down with Bully: Scholarship Edition on the 360 for roughly 10 hours in an attempt to complete the game in one sitting. Pizza was indeed ordered.
No commentary since my mic/streaming PC is in a different room to my 360 and TV/HiFi setup. That and I assumed I would be slurring shit up by the end credits.
As far as my opinion on the game goes, Bully does a fair amount right (properly engaging story that I haven’t had an earlier Rockstar game do, extremely enjoyable OST, pretty good missions) as it does wrong (lack of polish, rushed pacing during the 5th Chapter that could have been solved with an extra chapter).
This isn’t helped by the ham-fisted work done here by Mad Doc Software (now Rockstar New England, because Rockstar can’t stop acquiring companies fast enough) which now adds extremely unstable framerates, a new lighting zone system (extremely noticeable if you walk back and forward under the arch on the right of the school building), and plenty of graphical flickering. Oh, and don’t get me started on the extra missions. The 3rd Chapter didn’t need any more missions, and what they’ve added seems a little bit lazy (the mission where you find shiny things for Hobo Santa, where the game calls everything you collect the all-too-generic “packages”). They don’t bother to fix my previously mentioned issue with Chapter 5’s pacing that skips over a lot of motivations and motives for things happening in lieu of “Garry did it”.
In short, this is still a semi-decent way to play Bully. I’d still recommend the PS2 release (even if it’s on PS4) but this is a close second followed by the Wii version (PS2 version with some shite motion controls), the PC version (haven’t played it but I hear it’s basically the 360 version but barely functional) and somewhere in there is the mobile version (haven’t played it but by golly a touch screen is not what I want to be playing this game with).
